About us

When a photographer, celebrant and wedding planner come together, we make it happen!

Alpine Altar is brought to you by a group of passionate wedding professionals based in
Wānaka. We’ve seen lots of couples consumed by the weather forecast in the lead up to their
day, so we thought why not create a new experience, inside, where it’s warm, it’s a vibe and
makes it easy for our couples, still with some photo ops in the great outdoors. Our mission is to
keep your wedding to-do list to an absolute minimum.

Meet the Team

Nat – Photographer

Nat is our ace photographer who will capture your vegas style wedding as it all unfolds. With her dry wit, she’ll have you cracking up, capturing the beauty of the moment. Her no fuss approach is exactly what’s needed for your one hour in the spotlight. You can check out more of Nat’s epic work at Run in the Shadows.

Siobhain – Celebrant

Siobhain is not only authorised to sign legal marriage papers but also loves to chat. Warning: her laugh comes with a snort. Although she cannot serenade you Elvis style, she’ll bring her Irish accent and a short and sweet ceremony that is full of heart. More about Siobhain can be found here.

Sera – Venue Manager

The calmest and nicest wedding planner you will ever meet. Sera keeps our chapel flow moving, troubleshooting anything that might arise on the day and will give you the warmest welcome on your arrival. Sera is a full time wedding planner at “Something Borrowed”. This woman can make amazing things happen!

The Venue – Cardrona Church

Tucked away in the Cardrona Valley, this little church has had quite the glow-up. It’s as unique as our Alpine Altar couples.

Originally a miner’s hangout beside the historic All Nations Hotel, it survived a fire that took the rest of the building. It later became a Catholic church, then made a move down the valley in the 1950s to serve the growing Wānaka community.

Fast forward a few decades, it was decommissioned and nearly demolished in 1985… until locals stepped in, saved it, and brought it home to Cardrona, restoring it with care.

Now, it sits right where it belongs, full of character, history, and stories.

It’s just a stone’s throw from Cardrona Hotel for pre- and post-wedding celebrations.
